Kickass Torrents down – new Kickass sites
The original Kickass Torrents has been shut down on July 20th 2016.
The community backed Kickass Torrents (katcr.co) has been launched in December 2016.
A large group of original Kickass Torrents staffers has launched a reincarnation of the infamous torrent site, hoping to restore it to its former glory. The new site uses a fresh and secure database, but the look and feel of the platform remains the same.
When ExtraTorrent shut down in May 2017 many users over to Kickass (katcr.co) as an alternative to their favorite torrent site.
Kickass proxy sites
There are countless Kickass Torrents proxy sites. Some of them mirroring the community driven katco.cr, others help to unblock Kickass spin-offs like kickass.cd or kat.rip.
Kickass Torrents clones and scam sites
- thekat.info – intrusive ads, massive popups making the site unusable
- kickasstorrents.pw – does not provide torrents, redirects to malicious advertising
- proxyindex.net – sending visitors to malicious advertising
- kickasstorrents.eu – just advertising a VPN service
- kickass2.nz – intrusive ads, massive popups making the site unusable
- thekat.se – same as above, intrusive ads

Kickass Torrents (KAT) is a well-know torrent site indexing thousands of torrents verified and commented by a large file-sharing community. KAT continues to innovate and release new features. Beside The Pirate Bay, Kickass Torrents has grown to one of the most popular torrent sites.
What makes a difference to The Pirate Bay is the fact that Kickass Torrents deals with DMCA takedown requests while The Pirate Bay yet refuses to delete any torrent. Anyhow there’s a vast content collection provided by KATs community that potentially tops the catalog of The Pirate Bay.
Third-party malware and adult adverts annoy many visitors but decreased in recent times. Registered users will have the most ads removed.
Kickass Torrents downloads are provided as .torrent file downloads and magnet links. Due to its popularity and recurring DDoS attacks, KAT.cr suffers downtimes every now and then.
